Leny Yoro disagrees with Cristiano Ronaldo as Man Utd defender reflects on start at club

Leny Yoro, who signed a £52 million contract with Manchester United from Lille in the summer, has already established a clear boundary between himself and the club’s legendary Cristiano Ronaldo.

Leny Yoro’s insistence that he has no issue with the Manchester weather has established a clear boundary between him and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Yoro left Ligue 1 team Lille in the summer to join Manchester United for £52 million. An ankle injury severely hampered his start at United, and he has only been healthy enough to play eight games thus far.

However, since he recovered, he has made frequent appearances under new manager Ruben Amorim. Yoro has had to adjust to life as a player at one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League in addition to playing in a foreign nation.

The 18-year-old has disclosed that he is learning English to help him adjust to his new environment. Additionally, he has asserted that he is unaffected by Manchester’s notoriously bad weather.

He said to Telefoot, “To be honest, everything is going well.” “I have everything I require. It helps that there are other young players and that the team is friendly. There isn’t much of a difference in the weather compared to the north of France.

“I’m beginning to get used to speaking correctly; the language is improving. It’s going well, but sometimes it’s difficult to understand what they’re saying with the accent. I now understand.”

Yoro’s statements reflect a clear dividing line between himself and Ronaldo, who made little secret of his hatred for the British weather. The Portuguese superstar said in 2006 that living was challenging due to the bad weather.

“I like to play for Manchester – better than [I like] the weather,” Ronaldo said subsequently on Sky Sports News. “I find the weather really challenging since it always seems to be raining and snowing.

“It’s challenging for me because it’s not as sunny as Portugal, where you see the sun every day. However, the club is huge, and I’m glad I’m remaining here.”

Yoro made his United debut during last month’s loss to title-challenging Arsenal. Prior to the match, manager Amorim made it apparent that he had taken notice of the young defender.

“He has a unique skill, therefore we must exercise caution right away. There weren’t many training [sessions] that we attended together. He has been working out with a select few athletes. He is a contemporary defender and really quick,” he remarked.

“He can handle facing a lot of strikers in this league one-on-one, so he will be useful when we want to push high. I’m thrilled since he is really skilled with the ball. I can’t wait to see Leny Yoro play, but we must exercise caution and control the load and minute at first.”
