Several new players will be available for selection when Arne Slot’s team takes on Bournemouth on August 15 to begin their title defence.

Liverpool’s squad numbers have been formally announced in advance of the 2025–2026 Premier League season.

Arne Slot’s team enters the season as champions and will want to defeat Bournemouth in the Premier League curtain-raiser at Anfield on August 15 to begin defending their title.

Additionally, Merseyside’s red side has seen a lot of upheaval this summer. With the addition of Milos Kerkez, Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Hugo Ekitike, and Armin Pecsi, Liverpool has spent £269 million on signings. Giorgi Mamardashvili and Freddie Woodman also showed up and will now support Alisson.

The Reds, who are well into their preseason training, defeated Yokohama FM of Japan 3-1 in their most recent game thanks to goals from Rio Ngumoha, Trey Nyoni, and Wirtz.

Prior to their trip to Wembley for the FA Community Shield match against Crystal Palace on August 10, Liverpool will play two friendlies at Anfield on the same day as their return to action against Athletic Club on August 4.

Given the close ties to a move from Newcastle United, supporters are still unsure if transfer target Alexander Isak will be included in the forthcoming games.

Journalist Florian Plettenberg provided an update on the story through X on Thursday.

“The Alexander Isak talks between Newcastle and Liverpool are going well,” he added. Regarding the issue, the player’s camp is really optimistic. Isak is optimistic that the teams can come to an agreement. There will have to be a record bid.

“According to yesterday’s report, Liverpool and I have reached a verbal agreement in principle over a contract that runs until 2031.”

Liverpool announced their 2025–2026 squad numbers on Friday morning.

Liverpool’s squad numbers for the 2025–2026 season have been confirmed, the club said in a statement.

Conor Bradley and Trey Nyoni have chosen to switch, while the seven new players who joined the team this summer have chosen their numbers.

Due to Luis Diaz’s departure to Bayern Munich on Wednesday, Florian Wirtz has assumed the No. 7 shirt.

“The Reds’ new No. 6 is Milos Kerkez, and Jeremie Frimpong has selected No. 30, which was his number at Bayer Leverkusen.” The No. 22 jersey will be worn by Hugo Ekitike.

Giorgi Mamardashvili is ranked No. 25, Freddie Woodman is ranked No. 28, and Armin Pecsi is ranked No. 41 in the goalkeeping division.

“In the meantime, Nyoni moved from No. 98 to No. 42, and Bradley moved from No. 84 to No. 12.”

So, if Isak were to sign with Liverpool, what number would he wear?

He used to wear 19 at his last club, Real Sociedad, but now he wears 14 at Newcastle.

Federico Chiesa, the current holder of the number 14, may therefore need to find another number or leave the team if he wishes to keep it.

After a dismal first season in England, the winger has been linked to a return to his home country of Italy.

Harvey Elliott might have to forfeit his team number if Isak requests 19. This summer, he has also been connected to a possible departure from Anfield. Additionally, number 12 is unoccupied.
