Liverpool star makes vow to Jurgen Klopp ahead of final match as manager at Anfield
In Jurgen Klopp’s farewell match, Aston Villa managed to salvage a point on Monday thanks to two goals late in the game by Jhon Duran, leaving Liverpool with only a draw.
Jarell Quansah, a defender for Liverpool, is adamant that he and his teammates “have to” give Jurgen Klopp a fitting farewell this Sunday against Wolves.
On Monday night, while Klopp’s team was playing Aston Villa, who was chasing the Champions League, Quansah scored his first-ever Premier League goal. However, the game finished level, meaning Liverpool has only triumphed once in their previous five league away games.
They no longer have any chance to give Klopp a second Premier League title in his final season due to their decline in form. Even though Liverpool has a chance to win four trophies as late as mid-March, the long-serving manager will leave with just one trophy this season—the League Cup.
Liverpool has been playing well at Anfield this season, taking home 45 points out of a possible 54, with a few standout exceptions. Even though third place is already assured, Quansah is determined to add three more if they defeat Wolves on the last day of competition.
Quansah told Match of the Day, “We’ve definitely got to play our way and give him a good send off.” “Just keep fighting until the death and obviously just play for that really, give him the best send-off on Sunday.”
In the rematch in September, Quansah started for Liverpool for the first time. That time, Hugo Bueno’s own goal late in the game tied the score, with Cody Gakpo and Andy Robertson scoring the other two Reds goals. Hwang Hee-chan had given Gary O’Neil’s team the lead.
Liverpool hasn’t maintained a clean sheet in any of their previous ten league games, despite conceding six fewer goals than they did the previous year with 41 goals. On Monday night, their defensive shortcomings were exposed once more as Villa came back from a 3-1 deficit to 3-3 thanks to a late double from Jhon Duran.
