Manchester City issued a statement after a fan sadly died before their Champions League match against Villarreal in Spain on Tuesday night. Guy Bradshaw, 35, a well-known fan of the team, was discovered dead in his Benidorm flat by a friend in the early hours of the morning.

Just hours before, he shared a video on social media with Ricky Hatton’s son, Campbell Hatton, singing “There’s only one Ricky Hatton.” Guy, whose father, Martin, was due to come out to meet him before kickoff, also leaves behind a young daughter, his mother Jeanette, twin brother Kane, and younger brother Zak.

A GoFundMe campaign, titled ‘In Loving Memory of Guy Bradshaw,’ has been set up to assist his family in bringing him home, covering burial fees, and providing anything else is required. At the time of writing, £16,000 of the £20,000 objective had already been raised, including one anonymous £8,500 donation.

Man City Issues Statement Following Fan Death Before Villarreal Clash

Guy was and will always be a prominent person of the Man City fanbase, as the club said on X (see full statement below):

“We are deeply saddened by the death of Guy Bradshaw, a City fan who tragically died in Spain before the club’s game against Villarreal last night.” Everyone at the Club wishes to express their sympathies to his family, friends, and fellow supporters during this terrible time. “Once a Blue, always a Blue.”

Following the terrible news, there has been an outpouring of love and support for Guy’s family, with one Manchester City fan also paying tribute by commenting (see below): “From a tiny boy either playing for my team or travelling all over to watch city in the 90s, right up to the highs of our greatest nights.”

“I’m really upset beyond belief. The greatest father ever, and an all-around legend. RIP, dude. You will always be in my thoughts. “Love to your family.”

Guy’s cause of death has still to be determined, however his cousin Jess Bradshaw, 26, told the Manchester Evening News that the family has been informed there are ‘no suspicious circumstances.’

Jess described her cousin as a ‘kind’ man who ‘idolised his daughter’ and ‘lived for City.’ “He was so well-known in Wythenshawe, and by City fans,” she informed me. “He was very nice, kind, and kind. He was never in trouble. He never had any enemies. He lived for City and his little daughter. “He idolised her.”
