Manchester United’s position on the potential transfer of the £42 million-rated Bayern Munich player has unexpectedly shifted following a significant update from Leny Yoro.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has expressed a longstanding desire to acquire Matthijs de Ligt. However, due to Leny Yoro’s injury, the squad may now have to put in further effort to secure the services of the Dutch defender.

Following the severe injury setback experienced by their recent acquisition Leny Yoro, Manchester United may be need to pay a greater sum in order to get the services of Matthijs de Ligt.

The injury was initially sustained by the new £59 million acquisition from Lille during United’s 2-1 loss to Arsenal in Los Angeles on Saturday. United has not disclosed the severity of the problem, but the initial indicators are discouraging.

After being replaced in the first half of the game, the 18-year-old was observed at UCLA, the training centre of United, employing crutches and wearing a protective plastic boot on his left foot.

Ten Hag faces additional concerns in the defensive department, since Lisandro Martinez has not resumed training following his contribution to Argentina’s triumph in the Copa America. He may not be ready to play in the Premier League opener against Fulham on August 16.

Victor Lindelof, who had been rumoured to leave the club, has recently returned to full training after a minor injury.

Currently, Ten Hag may be required to begin the season with experienced players Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans in the central positions of his defensive line. Another alternative among the current players is Luke Shaw, who plays as a left-back.

United are aiming to strengthen their defensive squad even more, and they still have their sights set on Bayern Munich’s De Ligt, who previously played under Ten Hag at Ajax.

Manchester United has reached a verbal agreement on the personal conditions with the Dutch defender, but, the two clubs have not yet agreed on the transfer money.
