Man Utd ‘Concerned’ With Jadon Sancho Situation at Aston Villa

At the beginning of the season, the Manchester United winger joined Aston Villa, a Premier League competitor.

According to reports, Jadon Sancho’s performance at Aston Villa has left Manchester United dissatisfied.

Former England international Sancho is in a tough spot four years after moving to Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund for £73 million.

Since joining United, Sancho has struggled to establish a regular spot in the team after losing favor with multiple coaches at Old Trafford.

As a result, he has been on loan from a number of clubs lately; his most recent move was to sign a season-long loan with Aston Villa, a team in the Premier League.

However, the 25-year-old’s situation at Villa Park appears to have gone south, raising questions about his future at Manchester United.

United probably thought that Sancho’s spell would be comparable to that of fellow outcast forward Marcus Rashford when they decided to let him join Villa for the season.

Rashford, who had similarly lost favor with Ruben Amorim, made an impressive appearance on his brief loan to Villa in the second half of the 2024–2025 campaign.

Following his loan with Villa, Rashford was able to sign a season-long contract with his current team, Barcelona, with the La Liga powerhouses holding out the option to purchase him permanently at the end of the current campaign for £30.3 million.

Rashford’s impressive performance since joining Barcelona has reportedly led to the Spanish team seeking to come to a new deal with United that would enable them to finalize the move in January.

And before Sancho’s contract expired at the end of the current campaign, United probably thought that this was the best course of action.

In a perfect world, Sancho would have shown himself to be so valuable to Villa that they would have been prepared to pay United a nominal amount in January to keep him from joining another team when he became a free agent in the summer.

“There is concern at United regarding Sancho’s situation,” transfer insider Graeme Bailey told United In Focus.

“The likelihood of receiving any compensation for a player who cost over £70 million is as low as it has ever been, but it’s not that they were anticipating a return to form would mean a return to Old Trafford.

In a perfect world, Sancho would have made many appearances and made an impression. At that point, United would have to decide whether to exercise his option and sell him, or even sell him in January.

Sancho may undoubtedly get back to his previous level of play, and United hopes that he does so that they may have to make a choice.

“They’ll keep an eye on things, but they don’t have high hopes.”

As of this writing, Sancho has made three appearances across all competitions for Villa, including one in the Premier League, an eight-minute cameo as a substitute.
