Supervisory advice Man United hopes to be successful at Old Trafford if an £85 million transfer deal is reached.
Midfield signings are one of INEOS’ top targets as the Reds chase many positions throughout the summer transfer window.

According to the Portuguese publication Record, United has made a bid of about £51 million for Joao Neves, a 19-year-old star for Benfica.

This was the team’s first summertime offer for the gifted young midfield player, who had previously been connected to a move to Old Trafford.

But according to reports, Benfica has turned down the offer and won’t entertain any lower than £85 million.

Since making his debut at Benfica, Neves has made six appearances for Portugal, and manager of the national team Roberto Martínez thinks he’s prepared for the next level.

When asked whether the 19-year-old Martinez thought Neves had what it takes to play for Manchester United, Martinez said, “100%.”

“Everything falls into his stride; his decisions are better the better the opposition, the quicker the game, and so on,” he continued.

When Neves made his Portugal debut in October of last year, his teammates instantly respected him, which Martínez thinks speaks highly of him.

Martínez continued, “The dressing room’s respect is the biggest measurement of a player—something that is very difficult and rare to see.”

“He entered the dressing room, and after three days of practice, he won away from home against Bosnia and made his debut.

“I think that’s a measurement of what he is as an individual, someone very respected straight away,” said the man who had only met Joao Neves three days prior, Joao Cancelo, when he scored a goal while he was on the bench. He ran to the bench to celebrate the goal with Neves.
