Manchester United legend has ‘offered himself’ to Celtic if Roy Keane takes the job.

Brendan Rodgers resigned as Celtic manager following a 3-1 defeat to leaders Hearts.
A Manchester United legend has ‘offered himself’ to Celtic in case Roy Keane emerges as an unexpected candidate for the club’s managerial role.
Brendan Rodgers announced his resignation as Celtic manager on Monday, October 27, with the team sitting second in the Scottish Premiership, eight points behind Hearts.
Martin O’Neill has returned to Celtic on an interim basis after previously leading the club from 2000 to 2005.
Speaking to talkSPORT on Tuesday morning, the Northern Irishman indicated that he is ‘just keeping the seat warm’ until a permanent manager is appointed.
O’Neill will be assisted by Shaun Maloney, a former Celtic player who was ousted as Wigan manager in March when the club was 15th in League One.
Ange Postecoglou, Celtic’s manager from 2021 to 2023, has emerged as the odds-on favourite to return to Celtic Park.
However, talkSPORT said that individuals close to the Australian have downplayed his potential return.

Postecoglou was fired as Nottingham Forest manager earlier this month after a disastrous 39-day run at the City Ground.
Kieran McKenna, the manager of Ipswich, is another candidate for Celtic’s manager role, however he is contracted with the Championship club until 2028.
McKenna guided Ipswich to back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League, but they were relegated in their first season back in the top flight and are presently 12th in the second level.
Ipswich, who were preseason favourites for promotion, will not want to lose McKenna at this stage of the season.
Keane, who won the league and league cup with the Glasgow club, is an outsider for the Celtic role.
Keane has not held a managerial position since leaving Ipswich in 2011, although he has not ruled out returning to the role.
Jaap Stam, his former Manchester United teammate, revealed earlier this year that he would like to work with Keane again if he takes over a club in the future.

Stam told BoyleSports, which has the most recent Champions League odds, that he would want to see Roy Keane return to management and act as his assistant.
“He can counsel particular players on how to develop, but the final decision will be his. He’s doing well as a pundit at the moment.
“I feel he has the potential to be an excellent manager since he is so informed about the game.
“It’s a completely different life in management, day and night; you have to be ready for the lifestyle, the club, and the players.
“I’m sure he enjoys his current role but I’d love to see him in the dugout again, if he needs an assistant then I’ll be there.”
Despite the speculation, Keane is unlikely to leave his punditry duties to return to management.
He regularly appears on Sky Sports, where he co-hosts Stick to Football with Jamie Carragher, Ian Wright, and Gary Neville.
