When Marcus Rashford was asked to name the “best player in the Premier League,” he did not specifically mention Virgil van Dijk of Liverpool or Mohamed Salah of Manchester City.

In July of 2023, Rashford, who was 27 at the time, disclosed his choice during an interview with Gary Neville, who had previously served as the captain of Manchester United.

Neville, who is fifty years old, posed thirty questions to the United academy graduate, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa. The former player responded to all of the questions.

One of the questions that he was asked was about his preferred away ground, which he disclosed to be Camp Nou in Barcelona. Additionally, he was asked about the best character in the dressing room, but he quickly named his former United teammate Zlatan Ibrahimović.

In his explanation, Rashford stated, “He is always himself, regardless of where he is.”

Following Manchester City’s historic treble victory, which included winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League just a few short months earlier, Rashford made this statement prior to the 2023–2024 season. It is important to note that Rashford made this statement.

During the course of the campaign, as well as over the course of the previous ten years, Kevin De Bruyne has been one of the most important players.

According to Rashford, the Belgian has been the best player in the league over the course of the past “four or five years.”

Is there a player in the Premier League who is currently the best? As Rashford put it.

During the previous season (2022/23), it was unquestionably Haaland, but I believe that De Bruyne has been the best player over the past four or five years.

And despite the fact that United and Pep Guardiola’s team are obviously rivals, the England international went even further and praised another player from City at the time, Kyle Walker, who was on loan at AC Milan at the time. Walker was referred to as his most difficult opponent in his entire athletic career.

Rashford remarked that the individual’s physical capabilities were simply incomprehensible.

“It is always going to be a difficult day [when you are opposed to him].

You will need to make an effort to catch him off guard or to put him in an awkward position, but even if you do that, he will still be able to recover. When playing against him, the game is always challenging.

I simply make an effort to drift into areas where he is unable to drift or, alternatively, where he must pass me on into. “And when he does pass me on, I just pull back a little bit, away from the defensive midfielder or wherever it is,” I just said.

Additionally, the 27-year-old player explained that despite being used as a central striker on occasion, he preferred to play on the left wing of the defence.
