Marina Granovskaia could be bring down as Premier League investigation into Chelsea spending

When Chelsea’s spending is investigated by the Premier League, Marina Granovskaia may be fired.

Since Roman Abramovich sold the team in 2022, former Chelsea chief executive Marina Granovskaia has not been employed by the organization. However, she is closely associated with rumors surrounding payments made in secret while Abramovich owned the team, and it appears that the investigation is becoming more localized.

She may be asked to testify regarding the nature of some of the payments made during the Premier League’s investigation into our spending during that time, as per an exclusive in the Guardian today, claiming that she personally benefited from some of the payments made within the intricate web of shell companies used to run Chelsea under Abramovich.

To begin with, it seems that the club has given her money to purchase a home, and that’s just the beginning. The Guardian article enumerates numerous dubious-sounding deals.

The league’s investigation will center on alleged illegal payments made to intermediaries and agents, but it’s impossible to predict who might be impacted by a house of cards that collapses. The cover-up of a few individuals may be exposed, as the new ownership has demonstrated that it is willing to cooperate fully with any investigation.

Is it really surprising that a Russian oligarch was involved in dubious business practices?

We’re not discussing a man who, like Elon Musk, Bill Gates, or Steve Jobs, made his fortune through a brilliant invention. This man was among a small group of “kleptocrats” who took control of assets that had been owned by the state during the chaos that followed the fall of the Soviet Union. Because he didn’t follow the rules, Abramovich became the best in Russia during a period that was known for its lawlessness! Therefore, it shouldn’t be shocking if he took a fast and loose approach to managing his football team.
