Moises Caicedo insists snubbing Liverpool for Chelsea was ‘100 percent’ the right decision as £115m man pledges to show fans he’s ‘a boss’ after nightmare debut season
Moises Caicedo is adamant that he made the right choice when he chose to sign with Chelsea rather than Liverpool during the summer of 2017.
For a record-breaking sum, Caicedo signed with Chelsea.
This past summer, Liverpool was ignored.
in the 2024-25 season, failed to live up to the expectations that were set for them.
SOMETHING HAPPENED?
A staggering transfer fee of £115 million (€134) was paid by the Blues in order to acquire the services of Caicedo, an Ecuadorian player, from Brighton during the summer of 2017. This caused the Blues to go bankrupt. Despite the fact that Liverpool was also in the running to acquire the midfielder, he ultimately decided to sign with the west London club rather than the Merseyside team of his choice.
THE OVERGROUNDING CONCEPT
Despite investing a significant amount of money, Chelsea was not able to acquire the required performance from the 22-year-old player. In the 48 matches that he played across all competitions, he only managed to score once and produce four assists. According to Caicedo, however, he continues to have faith that the strategies employed by the new manager, Enzo Maresca, will bring out the best in him during the forthcoming 2024-25 season.
THINGS THAT MOISES CAICEDO THOUGHT
“It was a difficult decision because you know Liverpool is a big team,” the teenage midfielder stated while he was speaking to reporters. However, Chelsea had been living with me for a few months, and I had the impression that I couldn’t pass up this opportunity. At a time when Brighton was unwilling to let me go, they were there for me when things were difficult. It was a challenging choice, but it was without a doubt the best option.
Caicedo responded to a question about his goals for the forthcoming season under the direction of a new coach by saying, “He plays like the same system that I played in Brighton.” This statement was made on the official website of Chelsea. He is looking for the same thing. It is important to him that I demonstrate my qualities, that I have a positive demeanour, and that I demonstrate to my teammates that I am the one in charge on the pitch. I am confident that I will be a good player when I am with him.
WHERE IS MOISES CAICEDO GOING FROM HERE?
The next time we will see the Ecuador international in action is on Tuesday, when Chelsea will play Real Madrid in Charlotte, North Carolina, in the final friendly encounter of their preseason tour in the United States. His opponent will be Real Madrid.
