Nottingham Forest Next Manager: Ten Hag Among 25 Favourites to Replace Postecoglou

Published

on

Nottingham Forest’s next manager odds have emerged as the club continues its search for a third different manager in the 2025/26 season following the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou. At the beginning of the season, owner Evangelos Marinakis demonstrated little allegiance to Nuno Espirito Santo. Despite bringing the Tricky Trees to European football for the first time in nearly two decades, Nuno was fired following a series of public disputes with the club administration.

Replacing Nuno’s systematic method, which helped Forest construct one of the greatest defences in the country, with Postecoglou’s unpredictable philosophy has also proven to be a huge mistake. The former Europa League-winning Tottenham manager became the first in Forest history to fail to win a single game after eight games in command, giving the Australian the second-shortest tenure of any Premier League manager.

The difficulties have not ended there. Forest have only scored one Premier League goal in that period, and they could be relegated before the weekend is out, with ties between supporters and the board strained. The managerial job is a poisoned chalice, requiring someone who can make an instant impact on a brilliant but underconfident side.

Odds for the next Nottingham Forest Manager

Given Forest’s Europa League position and historic history, it’s no surprise that those sponsoring the City Ground redevelopment will be able to bring in some big names when the management merry-go-round spins again. Outsiders on the bookies’ lists include Xavi, who most recently led Barcelona, and beloved former England manager Gareth Southgate.

Thiago Motta’s choice is another surprise, as his ultra-offensive 2-7-2 formation could reignite the pandemonium that followed Postecoglou’s brief spell. The current 5/4 favourite, however, is Sean Dyche, a manager whose pragmatic mentality may match the group perfectly. The former Everton and Burnley manager has long demonstrated that, while a 4-4-2 may not raise eyebrows, it is ruthlessly effective in terms of results, which might help keep the ship afloat in an emergency.

Brendan Rodgers and Erik ten Hag are also among the top five possibilities, both with something to show after poor seasons at Liverpool and Manchester United, respectively. Elsewhere, Steve Cooper is listed at 14/1 for a possible return, while signing Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola or Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner – both at 16/1 – would be a statement of intent and a half, indicating that Forest still want to punch above their weight in the Premier League.
