“Likely a deception or scheme involving Arsenal?”- Former PGMOL chief discloses ongoing FA inquiry as referee Chris Kavanagh faces penalties for denying a handball on Kai Havertz during a tumultuous incident.

Arsenal may incur a penalty for displaying large-screen replays during the Premier League match against Aston Villa on Saturday, according to Keith Hackett.

The Gunners showcased footage of Kai Havertz’s disallowed goal during the 2-2 match on January 18, which Gary Neville observed, resulting in fan discontent despite the clear handball infringement.

Hackett stated that it contravenes existing protocols in the Premier League, with the current regulations being quite distant from permitting such occurrences.

In an exclusive interview with Villa News, the former PGMOL chief and FIFA referee acknowledged that sanctions may be forthcoming at the Emirates Stadium.

“Hackett stated that it was the appropriate decision to disallow the goal after it had made contact with the arm of an Arsenal player prior to entering the net.”

“Replaying the incident is not within the scope of VAR at this stage and contravenes the existing protocol.”

I have repeatedly advocated for VAR to function similarly to Rugby in order to enhance fan understanding.
We are still distant from that occurring.

Arsenal probe imminent following Aston Villa match.

“I am confident that the FA will investigate the incident involving the big screen in light of Gary Neville’s remarks.”

“This contravenes the protocol, and Arsenal may incur a penalty.”

Unai Emery will be pleased to depart London with a point secured, having been two goals behind and striving defensively to maintain that score after recovering.

Leandro Trossard and Mikel Merino both squandered significant opportunities in the closing minutes, yet it was Havertz who scored, only for the goal to be disallowed.

The decision was correct, and Arsenal supporters have no grounds for protest following the replays.

Aston Villa is engaged in advanced negotiations for a significant transaction.
