Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain could exchange players in forthcoming transfer window discussions. Possible incoming United players from PSG include Manuel Ugarte and Xavi Simons. However, Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes are being considered by PSG, potentially testing United’s commitment.

According to reports, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain could be in talks for players from both sides throughout the transfer window. With the Red Devils’ interest in Manuel Ugarte and Xavi Simons well documented, Luis Enrique’s men may also look to sign two of their own players, with journalist Loic Tanzi stating that Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes are firmly on the minds of PSG executives, with both clubs having ‘things to talk about this summer’.

United saw a minority takeover form in February after INEOS completed their 25% purchase of the club, and one of the first items on the agenda was always going to be a rebuilding of the playing squad. That has already begun with the signings of Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee from Lille and Bologna, respectively, and while Ugarte and Simons have been linked, some outgoings may be required to fund their transfers – Fernandes and Sancho are two players who could leave.

Two of United’s highest-earning players may depart, as PSG is interested in Fernandes and Sancho.

The report indicates that United and PSG have a significant amount to discuss in the summer with respect to their own players and the potential for their champions to depart.

The Red Devils have been linked with Ugarte’s services throughout the summer months, and there is a possibility that he could be brought in as part of United’s incomings from PSG. The two have engaged in discussions regarding the possibility of him serving as a long-term replacement for Casemiro. However, the club may also pursue Simons following his impressive performance at the 2024 European Championship. Again, there have been reports linking the Dutch teenager to a potential transfer to Old Trafford.

Nevertheless, there may be discussions regarding the possibility of certain United players relocating to the Parc des Princes. Sancho is one name that has been mentioned, and the future of the English winger is still uncertain, despite the positive crunch discussions with Erik ten Hag that occurred earlier in the summer, which culminated in his return to the squad prior to the preseason.

The report indicates that club captain Fernandes is also considering a potential transfer to the French capital, in addition to Sancho. The £240,000-per-week star, who is unquestionably the Red Devils’ most important player, could be significantly enticed by a move to Ligue 1. If a bid is accepted, it could put both United and Fernandes’ resolve to the test.

United Would Loathe to Lose Fernandes The Portuguese star is their most important player

Whilst the signing of Simons in an attacking midfield role would be a smart pickup, there is no doubting Fernandes’ influence at Old Trafford and as club captain, losing him would set the club back regardless of who they bring in.

A tally of 79 goals and 66 assists in just 233 games for the Red Devils is a record that speaks for itself, especially in an era that has seen periods of the worst success since Sir Alex Ferguson took over all the way back in 1986. Fernandes staying at Old Trafford beyond deadline day would almost be like a signing in itself, and even if PSG do offer a lucrative deal that could tempt the Red Devils, it would need to be extremely beneficial for them to proceed.
