Following the Tractor Boys’ 1-1 draw with the Red Devils, a group of Ipswich supporters got into a furious altercation with Roy Keane, the former captain of Manchester United.

Roy Keane was involved in a confrontation with Ipswich fan on Sunday.

The reason behind the furious disagreement with the former captain of Manchester United has been revealed by an Ipswich supporter who claims Roy Keane challenged him to a fight. Keane, a former manager of Ipswich, was commentating on Sunday’s United visit to Portman Road.

He appears to have told one of the home fans that he would “wait for him in the carpark” during a verbal dispute with them after the game. Ipswich supporter Neil Finbow has claimed on social media that he was among the fans Keane confronted.

There are currently multiple posts on Sunday’s event and previous Ipswich games on his public Facebook page. “New claim to fame just been offered out into the carpark by Roy Keane after a few choice words even Jamie Redknapp had to come over to get him away just ya average Sunday evening out,” Finbow said in his letter.

Finbow has been contacted by Mirror Football for more information. In response to an inquiry concerning his conversation with Keane, Finbow said that he had discussed his time as Town manager with the Irishman.

Keane was fired in January 2011 with the team teetering on the verge of relegation after managing from 2009 to 2011 and finishing 15th in the Championship in his only complete season. “Yep did remind him he set us back five years and ruined our football club – I also mentioned he wasn’t fit to step foot anywhere near our ground,” Finbow wrote on his Facebook page.

“Oh and I mentioned about him walking out on a World Cup and breaking [Alf-Inge] Halaand’s leg and putting it in his autobiography I hate the bloke and that’s been boiling up since he got sacked all those years ago.”

He posted a video of the occurrence along by the words “offering us all outside” and cry-laughing emojis in a different post. Additionally, he took the opportunity to praise the Tractor Boys’ performance.

“It was a fun game against a so-called “one of the largest clubs in the world” that was proud of the boys in blue ITID, aside from Keane being a k***,” he wrote. Marcus Rashford gave United the lead in the first two minutes, but Kieran McKenna’s men equalized through Omari Hutchinson.

After the stalemate, McKenna told BBC Sport, “We could have won the game, we finished the first half in the ascendancy and deserved to be at least level.” “The second half was competitive, we had a few big chances but had to be disciplined with our defending.”

“We may have won it on a different day, but the players deserve praise because the game could have gone against us if they had given up an early goal. Everyone reacts incredibly well to setbacks and doubles down on necessary tasks. We became bolder and more aggressive as the half progressed.

In his first game as United’s head coach, Ruben Amorim failed to secure a victory. “Not a good result but it is a tough league with high intensity,” he said to BBC Sport following the match, acknowledging the complexity of the competition. “We started very well but should have had more of the ball,” he said. However, we are gaining knowledge.

He went on to say, “It is a great environment, a great spectacle,” in reference to his first foray into the Premier League. However, once the game begins, I feel as though I’ve returned to Portugal or the third division.

“I am so focused everything is the same,” Amorim added, describing his intense focus during games. You guys are extremely fortunate to be in the world’s greatest league. I’m glad to be here, but I’m not feeling very good today since I enjoy winning games.”
