Rio Ferdinand slams Erik ten Hag for ‘unfair’ treatment of Man Utd star

Rio Ferdinand has urged Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, not to play midfielder Casemiro in defense after criticizing the Dutchman’s handling of the player.

With the Red Devils facing a defensive injury crisis, Casemiro and Jonny Evans started Sunday’s 1-0 home loss to Arsenal at center back.

Due to injuries, Tyrell Malacia, Viktor Lindelof, Raphael Varane, Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire, and Lisandro Martinez were all unable to play.

Ferdinand, however, is adamant that Casemiro is completely unfit for the role and would much rather see Sofyan Amrabat or Aaron Wan-Bissaka succeed him.

“Is Erik ten Hag ever going to remove Casemiro from the back line?” Following his former team’s defeat by Arsenal, Ferdinand posted on his YouTube channel.

“Is Sofyan Amrabat unable to perform there?” Or even Scott McTominay? It’s just not fair, in my opinion.

No matter how experienced he is, if you notice a few mistakes made by someone who is playing there but has never played there before and you notice them early, you should say to them, “You know what, I’m not going to do this to you.”

Please help him get out of there and return to his familiar position. There, play Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Amrabat could then play right back. For me, that comes the most naturally. Amrabat at right back and Wan-Bissaka at center back. He was delighted to use him in a couple of games at left-back.

We appeared to be an untrained squad. We were severely deficient in the creative portion of the pitch. Decision-making and excellence were lacking.

This season, United has lost 19 games across all competitions, which is a record since 1977–1978. Ten Hag’s team has had an awful season.

Their 82 goals conceded this season are their most since 1970–71, and their nine home losses this season are tied for the most.

Ten Hag, who is under a lot of strain, angrily yelled at a reporter following United’s loss to Arsenal.
