Ruben Amorim hails ‘smart and crucial’ Manchester United star after Ipswich draw

After Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town, Ruben Amorim thinks Noussair Mazraoui will be “crucial” to his Manchester United team.

Marcus Rashford gave United the lead after only two minutes at Portman Road, giving Amorim the ideal start to his debut game as manager.

However, Omari Hutchinson’s long-range effort that rebounded off Mazraoui’s head into the top corner to equalize for Ipswich after United needed a superb point-blank stop from Andre Onana to maintain their lead.

After moving from Bayern Munich for €20 million (£17.2 million) in the summer, Mazraoui played as a right-back under Erik ten Hag. However, in Amorim’s debut, the Morocco international was positioned on the right side of a back three with Matthijs de Ligt.

The 27-year-old put up a strong show at Portman Road, and Amorim thinks the defender will be crucial to United’s success this year.

Amorim told Premier League Productions, “Mazraoui is very intelligent.”
Mazraoui can play wherever, which is why I believe he is so crucial to our team. We really need a player like that for our future.

In his news conference following the game, Amorim also cautioned that the system shift from Ten Hag’s rule is likely to cause his players to “struggle” this season.

“I understand that the fans are frustrated, but we are changing so much right now with so many games,” Amorim remarked.

It will take time for us to strive to win games after suffering for a long time. Without Onana, we might win, but we might also lose.

“However, we must be realistic and consider that these guys had only two days to train and undergo such a significant transformation.”

Roy Keane, on the other hand, thinks United’s team isn’t good enough to finish in the top four this season.

United is now six points behind fourth-place Arsenal in the Premier League standings after the draw with Ipswich.”We saw the team’s shape, but the players and issues are the same,” he said to Sky Sports.

We discuss spots and leopards. The second half was lacking in quality and goals. Ipswich appeared to be the superior squad. He’s playing his first game. He [Amorim] has had a difficult week and has a lot to process, but in the end, he will be let down.

Moments have been the focus of our crew over the past year or two. You’re asking yourself, “What are you waiting for?” when United sat back. Go after them.

They were hesitant to continue and win the match. They lacked faith and confidence. Do I think they are good enough to return to the top four? Not at all. There is no proof. The same old crap is being used. predictable and genuinely bad.
