Ruben Amorim openly expressed his dissatisfaction following Manchester United’s third defeat in seven days, losing 2-0 to the struggling Wolves on Boxing Day.

Ruben Amorim expressed scathing criticism to Bruno Fernandes following his dismissal in Manchester United’s detrimental loss to Wolves.

United suffered their third consecutive defeat in all competitions, losing 2-0 at Molineux on Boxing Day with only 10 players. Following a competitive first half, Fernandes provided Wolves with the lead after receiving a second yellow card for striking Nelson Semedo on the ankle.

Matheus Cunha began the scoring with an inswinging corner that sailed over Andre Onana and into the far corner. Amorim implemented aggressive substitutions in pursuit of an equalizer, but Wolves achieved the requisite three points to escape the Premier League relegation zone when Hwang Hee-chan netted on the counter-attack in the 98th minute.

Fernandes has received three red cards in 27 appearances across all competitions this season, and his indiscipline proved detrimental. Amorim was compelled to contemplate a third defeat within a week, and he candidly assigned blame, asserting that the red card altered the course of the match.

Indeed, losing signifies a regression when we fail to achieve victory. He conveyed to Prime Video that the farewell was somewhat challenging. The objective was analogous against Tottenham. Subsequently, we attempted. Despite being one player short, we attempted to progress and seemed close to achieving our objective; however, Wolves then scored their second goal. Ultimately, we exhausted all options, resulting in a transition score of 2-0. Let us proceed.

In response to inquiries on Fernandes’ red card, Amorim stated: “I believe he cannot reach the ball.” He is attempting to reach the ball, while some individuals are not even seeing it; nonetheless, I prefer not to concentrate on that aspect. It is commendable that we approached the goal despite being a man down. That is advantageous; however, we were defeated.

He stated, “Winning games in this league with 11 players is exceedingly challenging.” It is more challenging with ten individuals. We must concentrate on that.

Amorim has experienced frustration due to his faltering commencement since succeeding Erik ten Hag, as his players have been incapable of executing his directives. “We must enhance the relationships, although we have certain instances,” Amorim stated. “We exhibit a deficiency in aggression, yet we do not engage in training.” We engage in play and seek improved strategies to secure victories, and that is all. We are unable to manage the games as we did in the previous losses.

“I believe we consistently maintained control of the game, not necessarily dominating, but managing certain aspects, particularly set-pieces.” The farewell was exceedingly difficult for us.

Amorim excluded Marcus Rashford from the squad for the fourth consecutive match and was consequently questioned regarding his absence. “It’s always the same reason it’s going to be,” he remarked. “We must maintain our professionalism and integrity, regardless of victory or defeat.” In defeat, I must cultivate greater strength. I shall persist with my concept till its conclusion.
