‘Shocking’ – Ally McCoist sounds in pain pointing out what Celtic do so much better than Rangers

Ally McCoist returns to talkSPORT, with Celtic already leading Rangers in the league title battle.

The former Rangers striker would have hoped that the 49ers Enterprises and Rangers’ challenge to Celtic would have gotten off to a stronger start after finishing the previous season trophyless.

However, Brendan Rodgers has Celtic in pole position after the Hoops defeated St Mirren and Aberdeen while Rangers struggled against Dundee and Motherwell.

And when it comes to the start of the season, McCoist already sounds in pain as he discusses how Celtic are performing so much better than Rangers.

Ally McCoist discusses Celtic’s recruitment vs Rangers.
Despite the controversy surrounding Celtic’s transfer business this summer, McCoist cannot help but concede that the Parkhead club is still far ahead of Rangers.

McCoist told talkSPORT: “They need to find fresh players. And the first thing you need to say is recruitment.

“When I say recruitment recently, I don’t mean during Russell Martin’s term, since it’s way too early to assess.

“The recruitment process has not been satisfactory. Recruitment has been shockingly effective.

“And what’s highlighted that Gabby, is the fact that recruitment across the city has been very, very good.” Celtic’s recruitment, notably under Ange, has been superb, particularly with Japanese players.

“So with a combination of Celtic’s recruitment being very good and Rangers’ being very poor, you’re right up against it.”

McCoist delivers a message to Rangers as Celtic go four points clear.
With a four-point lead at the top of the league and the potential of Celtic going ten points clear of Rangers by the end of the month, McCoist has a message for his former club.

And it will delight the Celtic support.

McCoist continued, “So you gotta give Russell Martin time. We have new owners at the club. So that will take a little time.

“The one thing is that they came in and acquired Leeds United, not only to start spending money. They organise stuff, which takes some time.

“I don’t mind at all. However, many Rangers fans are unimpressed with their team’s performances against Motherwell and Dundee.

Celtic fans will be pleased with how the new season has begun.

With a space already between the two clubs at the top of the league, if Celtic get their recruitment finger out this summer, it’s frightening to contemplate what the distance may be to Rangers by the end of the season if Rodgers is allowed to enhance the first-team squad.
