Before the summer transfer window closes at the end of the month, Michael Owen has identified the player(s) Manchester United must sign.

Desperate to turn things around after finishing in eighth place the previous season, United has already spent about £100 million this summer to lure Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro to Old Trafford.

Yoro, 18, signed a £52 million contract with Manchester United after being rejected by Real Madrid and Liverpool.

The Frenchman is highly anticipated, but due to a preseason injury, Yoro may miss up to three months of action and might not return until November.

Zirkzee, on the other hand, came to the Red Devils from Bologna in a £36.5 million move, and Owen believes he might be a “important player” for Manchester United.

However, the former England striker thinks his old team should return to the transfer window in order to recruit another striker before the deadline.

“I think Joshua Zirkzee has a lot of potential for Manchester United, but it will be interesting to watch how they adjust to a new style of play at the beginning of the season,” Owen said to Casino Hawks.

Although Zirkzee doesn’t appear to score many goals, Manchester United really needed reinforcement in that area. The great United teams of the past occasionally had four of the best strikers in the league.

Since Manchester United has struggled to score goals lately, adding a gifted player will help the team.

The only thing left to do is wait and watch how he performs, but eventually Manchester United will require a goal scorer with the calibre of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, and others they’ve had over the years.

You can only observe this space with Zirkzee right now and what he has accomplished thus far, but I believe Manchester United will benefit from having another player of his calibre up there.

Given all of the injuries they have sustained, the management finds it difficult to make frequent changes there at the present. There hasn’t been much to change if it hasn’t been functioning.

“So, while adding another player is fantastic, we should wait and see how he fits in even though it’s an exciting signing.”
