Sky reporter delivers ominous Sheffield Wednesday update: ‘It’s been made obvious to me’.

Sheffield Wednesday may only have received a 12-point deduction for entering administration, but Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett has warned that the club could face additional punishment.
That means the Owls are currently bottom of the Championship table with minus six points and are 16 points from safety, implying that Henrik Pedersen’s team will almost certainly be relegated to League One this season, especially given their current terrible form.
After losing a slew of important players in the summer as their off-field issue worsened, Wednesday have won only one of their first 12 league games this season, and they were defeated 2-1 by Oxford United at Hillsborough on Saturday.
While Chansiri is no longer in charge of the Owls, they will have to cope with the consequences of his mismanagement for some time, and due to several late wage payments in the latter months of his tenure, the club is unable to pay transfer fees for the next three windows.
That may not be the only consequence Wednesday faces for salary violations; Dorsett reported earlier this month that a points deduction could be in the works, and they are also subject to five distinct transfer embargoes that must be rectified by new ownership.
Sky Sports reporter discusses Sheffield Wednesday’s punishment update

Many assumed that Wednesday’s 12-point deduction for entering administration would be the end of their punishment, but in a new update, Dorsett revealed that they could still face another points penalty for some of Chansiri’s other infractions, though he stressed that any such sanction would be imposed this season.
“Sheffield Wednesday have a 12-point deduction, they are bottom of the Championship, they are looking pretty much stone guarantees for relegation to League One, so this isn’t great news, we shouldn’t stress it like that at all,” Dorsett said Sky Sports during the match.
“There are other issues on the horizon, since it has been made clear to me that the EFL has a number of other infractions for which it is willing to fine Sheffield Wednesday but has not yet taken action.
“That could lead to future points deductions for Sheffield Wednesday.
“Crucially, the EFL does not want to put a stumbling block or prevent any potential football club buyers, thus I believe any additional points reductions or fines will occur this season.
“Sheffield Wednesday will receive all of their punishments and any additional point deductions this season, so it will not carry over into future seasons.”
“I believe it is critical for anyone buying a football club to have that guarantee and the belief that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
“Difficult times for Sheffield Wednesday, for sure, but I believe the EFL and the current club executives are confident about the future.
“There are plenty of people who see the assets that Sheffield Wednesday have and the history of the football club as a good option for potentially buying it right now.”
Sheffield Wednesday fans will have mixed emotions following the points deduction news.

Pedersen and his players have performed admirably this season in the most difficult of circumstances, and after their uphill battle to avoid relegation was exacerbated by the 12-point deduction they received for entering administration, a further points penalty would make survival nearly impossible.
It is difficult not to sympathize with Wednesday’s players and staff, who have already been through so much in recent months, and it is perhaps wrong to penalize the club with another point deduction as punishment for the actions of an owner who has since left.
However, the most essential thing for the Owls is that they start with a clean slate next season under new management, and with relegation nearly certain, it makes sense for them to complete all of their punishments this season.
