The Chelsea club will not tolerate a loss on a twenty million pound midfielder who is unable to play, and a loan is not an option.

Carney Chukwuemeka didn’t get a single minute for Chelsea last night. That made it 3 games in a row where the midfielder didn’t appear.

It shows just how deeply he’s been buried on the depth chart by Enzo Maresca. we were excited that this might be his season after the flashes he showed last year, but as we feared that long injury really derailed his progress in getting into the first team.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Christopher Nkunku are going to hoover up any minutes that Carney wanted, with Cole Palmer still to come into the equation. Enzo Fernandez is playing further forward too. Whatever combination and formation Maresca chooses, there’s always a queue for minutes and he doesn’t seem to like Carney just yet.

Players will get their chances – in the Conference League especially. We’ll want a whole new team there, and Carney will benefit there.

Important decisions for the future of talent
Given the fact that Conor Gallagher appears to be leaving, we can only assume that Carney will be required to remain. As long as he does not threaten for even a single minute, however, the urge to take out a loan will continue to flourish.

Despite the fact that Chelsea may not be able to see him in the first team picture at the moment, they are not going to want to lose money on the deal. Despite the fact that he is injured, they will not take a loss on the twenty million pounds that they paid to Aston Villa for him in 2022. The current situation at Chelsea appears to be one in which he will need to exercise patience in order to regain some of his fitness and value, but a loan could provide him with the opportunity to do so.

Serie A clubs like as AC Milan and others have expressed interest in him in the past, but his high salary and high cost have prevented them from signing him. If, on the other hand, the manager has truly rejected Chukwuemeka, then the sporting directors will need to begin taking any bids with a great deal more seriousness.
