“They leave or Man United relegate.” Roy Keane calls on Manchester United to offload TEN first-team players

Roy Keane claims that Manchester United must let go of up to ten starting players in the upcoming transfer windows.

Erik ten Hag’s club has had a difficult start to the season. There have been whispers of unhappiness in the locker room after a recent defeat to Newcastle, as the Dutchman appeared to be under constant pressure.

That has somewhat lessened following a much-needed victory over Chelsea, which drops United to fourth place, just three points behind Manchester City, but the manager and his team still have a lot of questions to answer.

United has not won away from home against any Premier League team rated ninth or above since Ten Hag took over as manager. The team is now at the bottom of their Champions League group and will host Bayern Munich next week. Only a victory over Bayern, as well as a tie between Copenhagen and Galatasaray, will allow United to qualify.

Keane, Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, and Ian Wright combed through every player in United’s roster and categorised them into three groups on the most recent episode of The Overlap: keep, last straw, or ditch.
Keane demanded significant changes at Old Trafford, arguing that United should offload defensive players Jonny Evans, Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, Diogo Dalot, and Victor Lindelof. Further up the pitch, the former United captain showed even more ruthlessness by benching Christian Eriksen, Sofyan Amrabat, Antony, Anthony Martial, and banishing Jadon Sancho.

Luke Shaw and Andre Onana were among those put in the last straw group, but Keane kept players like Bruno Fernandes, Lisandro Martinez, Mason Mount, and manager Ten Hag.

Marcus Rashford did not convince Keane either. With just two goals this season, the forward was benched for Chelsea’s midweek victory, which infuriated Keane due to his inconsistent play.

Keane remarked, “I wouldn’t be sure about Marcus.”

The entire package, including his temperamental changes. Although he is a gifted player, there is always debate about his confidence and other off-field issues if you don’t put in the necessary effort and have periodic slumps. With him, it appears to be continual.

“Just show up each week and take care of business.”

Then he said, “Marcus is 26.” When will he finally realise this?
