Thierry Henry Names the 3 Clubs That Can Win Champions League This Season

Thierry Henry has selected the three teams he feels will win the Champions League this season. The Frenchman won the renowned big-eared trophy with Barcelona in 2009 and currently appears frequently on CBS Sports Golazo, where he covers Europe’s biggest competition alongside Kate Scott, Jamie Carragher, and Micah Richards.

Many believed that Liverpool, having spent more money on new acquisitions than anyone else in the showpiece tournament over the summer, would be among the favourites for any competition they participated in 2025/26. Meanwhile, Real Madrid, under Xabi Alonso’s cautious watch, were unlikely to go another season without a trophy.

However, Henry believes that after only three games, he has seen enough to rule both teams out of the Champions League race, according to the Metro. He also passed over Manchester City, despite Erling Haaland’s blistering form, which has seen him score 15 goals in 11 games and counting.

Henry names three teams capable of winning the 2025/26 Champions League, including Arsenal.

Death, taxes, and Arsenal scoring from set pieces – while the Gunners have historically relied on deadball situations, their form this season defies rival fans’ belief that this is unsustainable. Their 2025/26 campaign so far has gone as follows: 12 games, 10 victories, one draw, one defeat, 25 goals scored, and only one goal surrendered from open play.

Mikel Arteta’s team advanced to the semi-finals of this competition last season before falling to eventual winners PSG, but Henry feels they can go one step further this time. Their depth, along with the fact that they now appear to have the correct mindset and have been through thick and thin as a squad for several years, definitely puts them in excellent stead. Ask Diego Simeone about the Gunners, and he’ll tell you how excellent they are after defeating Atletico Madrid 4-0.

Paris Saint Germain

Winning one Champions League can frequently set off a domino effect, in which the parts of the jigsaw puzzle begin to fall into place, laying the groundwork for a dynasty. Paris Saint-Germain will be hoping this is the case after last season’s record-breaking 5-0 victory over Inter Milan, which saw them lift Old Big Ears for the first time in Les Parisiens history.

They have mostly preserved the same roster, which includes Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele, Vitinha, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. You can never write them out under Luis Enrique, especially after they struck the ground running in the league phase, defeating Bayer Leverkusen 7-2 on the road, edging Barcelona 2-1, and cruising to a 4-0 victory over Atalanta.

Bayern Munich

As sure as night follows day, Bayern Munich would eventually find their way back into contention for long-term success on the continent. It feels like a long time coming, but with an assault led by Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Luis Diaz, Die Roten may finally be able to move beyond local domination and establish themselves in Europe.

With 11 wins in 11 games in all competitions, the serial German champions must consider reclaiming their place at the pinnacle of world football. With 40 goals in that span – an average of 3.6 per game – they may easily outscore any opponent as they seek their first Champions League title since 2020.
