Arsenal would certainly love to make major additions during the summer transfer window again, but sadly, Mikel Arteta and Edu’s financial situation have forced the team to make some difficult decisions. As football.london has already reported, the Gunners are unlikely to add any big names in the near future, preferring to raise the floor rather than the ceiling of the squad.

Because of this, it is unlikely that players like Joao Neves, Viktor Gyokeres, and Victor Osimhen—all of whom have been connected to Emirates Stadium and would want a triple-figure fee—will sign. Arsenal has expressed a keen interest in both Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak, two Newcastle players who are also in that group.

Among the teams interested in signing Guimaraes are Arsenal, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain. His £100 million release clause is valid until late June. While Isak does not yet have a set asking price, it has been suggested by a number of sources that Newcastle would be willing to accept an offer of about £150 million.

It is not suggested that Arsenal will push to sign Isak or activate Guimaraes’ release clause, even though both players would significantly enhance Arsenal. It is quite evident that Arsenal cannot continue to spend the same amount of money in order to maintain compliance with the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), especially after spending £200 million on the team last summer.

Arteta has already made this extremely evident by recently admitting to signing new players. When asked about transfers, Arteta told CNN, “[We] look again.” “Everything from the squad’s margins to the football club’s procedure and approach, particularly with regard to how we can improve our players’ performance and help them become more consistent, competitive, and better players than they were the previous season

“I believe that what we already have in home ought to be our main focus. What can we do to improve? Our goal is to find players who can continue to improve and develop, even while there are margins.

“As a football club and as a team, we will always strive to improve while maintaining our identity and the things that have brought us this far. There is ambition. The staff and the players. You’re able to sense it. They have far higher expectations. The next phase is for them to start lifting trophies.

The transfer indication from Arteta is as harsh as it gets, and it’s likely that no new players be added. But there are undoubtedly goals that are more reasonably priced. Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig is one of those players that Arsenal is really interested in.

The Slovenian international, whose contract has a £55 million release clause, has drawn interest from Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester United as well. The German team is eager to keep him and has offered the player and his representatives a new contract.
