West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek trains at Rush Green on his days off, according to The Athletic.

It was reported on 30 September that the midfielder is putting in the extra mile behind the scenes.

Soucek was at the heart of the action in the 1-1 draw against Brentford on 28 September, scoring the equaliser at the GTECH Community Stadium.

Tomas Soucek needs to better his West Ham United performances

The 2024/25 season has quite frankly been abysmal for West Ham. The club were expected to vastly improve this season due to the players that they brought in to bolster their ranks.

However, this has been far from the case with them currently residing in fourteenth place, just two points away from the relegation zone.

As a result of their poor outings, Julen Lopetegui’s job has been brought into question with the Hammers even giving the Spaniard a three-game ultimatum [GiveMeSport, 24 September].

Soucek has been a consistent feature in the Hammers’ squad and his performances haven’t been up to the standard expected of him.

The midfielder has been subject to a fair amount of criticism from fans and pundits alike, but if he can pop up with important goals more often, that may change.

Things need to change soon otherwise the Hammers could find themselves in a rather sticky situation sooner than they’d think.

In other West Ham news, a supercomputer has predicted the possibility of the Hammers being relegated this season.

West Ham striker Niclas Fullkrug is expected to require a late fitness test ahead of the Ipswich Town game on 5 October at the London Stadium, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that he is dealing with Achilles tendinopathy based on what he’s heard Julen Lopetegui say.

The Spaniard revealed he was touch and go for the game against Brentford on 28 September but he did not even make the match-day squad.

Speaking exclusively with West Ham ZoneBrar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said:

A late fitness tests is on the cards for him if he’s close to a return.

The best case would be mid-cord of the Achilles and worst case would be insertional near the heel which takes longer to recover from and is agitated easier.

However, it seems to be the former and I’m expecting him to be back next weekend provided he trains well.
