Following their defeat to Dundee FC, Celtic are under a lot of pressure heading into their midweek encounter against Sturm Graz. The Hoops have yet to win a Europa League game this season, and given their performance at the weekend, few expect that to change when they host the Austrian side in Glasgow.

In addition, there is a layer of cloud over the match. It would be interesting to see how this Celtic side reacts to Brendan Rodgers’ ‘Honda Civic’ comments following their defeat to Dundee FC.

Will that motivate them to turn this season around? Or would this be the beginning of the end for Rodgers as Celtic manager?

We already know the officials for the next game versus Sturm Graz. According to Law 5, Juan Martínez Munuera will referee the match, with assistance from Diego Barbero Sevilla and Raul Cabanero Martinez. Javier Alberola Rojas will become the fourth official. Carlos del Cerro Grande will be on VAR duty, with César Soto Grado as his deputy.

Let’s see what happens in this game for Celtic. One thing is clear: they cannot afford another defeat at this time. On the other hand, a victory will provide them with a significant lift.

A win will not only benefit them in the Europa League, but it will also prepare them well for their forthcoming match against Hearts. Of course, we don’t have to tell you how significant that game will be.

Hearts are now five points clear of Celtic in the title battle. The Hoops just cannot let that number rise to eight.
