This tactical strategy gave him tremendous success during his time at Sporting CP, and as he looks to install his style at Old Trafford, it is possible that he will choose to use it.

In the midst of Amorim’s preparations for his first game as manager, which is scheduled to take place against Ipswich Town, there is a growing amount of conjecture over his possible decisions regarding important players, notably Marcus Rashford. There are reports that indicate the manager is contemplating the possibility of using Rashford as the centre striker, also known as No. 9 in the redesigned system.

There is a possibility that the recent performance of United’s other offensive alternatives will play a role in this choice. During the current season, both Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee have encountered difficulties in establishing their rhythm. As a result, Rashford, who has already scored four goals in the current campaign, has emerged as a desirable choice for the centre role. Given that his goal tally surpasses that of both Højlund and Zirkzee, it is possible that Amorim considers him to be more suitable for the position of leading the line.

In the event that Rashford does decide to play the position of No. 9 in the 3-4-3 formation, it may create possibilities for other players who are capable of attacking. There is a possibility that Alejandro Garnacho or Amad Diallo will play one of the wing-forward positions, functioning as a complementary player to Bruno Fernandes in the attacking three.

When it comes to the midfield, Amorim is expected to rely on Manuel Ugarte, who is one of his trusted players from his time at Sporting CP, to anchor the deeper midfield role with Kobbie Mainoo, who is a promising young player. It is anticipated that the wing-back positions on the flanks will be filled by the in-form Noussair Mazraoui on the right side, and either Luke Shaw or Diogo Dalot on the left side of the offensive line.

If these plans come to fruition, Manchester United’s starting XI with Rashford leading the attack could look like this: André Onana in goal, a back three of Benjamin Šeško Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Lisandro Martínez, wing-backs Mazraoui and Shaw/Dalot, a central midfield pairing of Ugarte and Mainoo, and a front three featuring Fernandes, Garnacho/Amad, and Rashford.
