After a terrible second season in charge of Manchester United, Erik ten Hag is currently facing criticism from club legend Wayne Rooney for his team’s subpar play.

Wayne Rooney thinks that the current state of Manchester United is worse than it was under David Moyes’ leadership.

Moyes was the first player to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson, but he was fired with four games left in the season, so he did not finish. The Scot ultimately suffered the consequences of United’s failure to make it into the Champions League, as they finished with their lowest result in 24 years.

Ten Hag’s team is currently ranked eighth in the Premier League, meaning that the current season will likely be even worse for the Red Devils. During Moyes’ time as manager, Rooney was a vital member of the team and finished the year as the top scorer.

Furthermore, he now asserts that Moyes performed a better job than Ten Hag is at the moment. The Dutchman and his playing team are currently fighting for their futures at Old Trafford, the United legend warned.

It’s really challenging. It is highly erratic. Mikel [Arteta] once said that you never know what to expect when you walk into Old Trafford in terms of performance and team composition. They might win the game, he said to Sky Sports prior to Sunday’s matchup with Arsenal.

“The disappointing thing is that I have no idea what is going to happen here; that is why I came. The goals they have given up this season, as well as their occasional lack of motivation. When David Moyes was here, we came in seventh place, but it never felt as bad as it does right now. I know Moyes lost his job.

“I believe that they are all vying for the same jobs.” Players, coaches, recruiters, and managers. the entire group. They have a few challenging games left before the FA Cup final at the end of the season.

As a player, you have to demonstrate to me that you want to play for this football team and that you work hard for it. You can’t just turn it on for the FA Cup final; that has to begin today. It must begin right now.”

Ten Hag has made an effort to justify his team’s miserable season by attributing their difficulties to their injury issues. And he maintained that United’s success stems partly from their advancement to the FA Cup final.

“I believe the owners are sensible enough to notice when there are thirty-two distinct backlines. You use eight center backs when you have eight available. Ten Hag stated earlier this week, “They see when you use 13 partnerships in center-half, when you don’t have a left full-back when we have so many injuries.”

They are aware that the outcome will suffer as a result. We are still fighting, and the FA Cup final is very important. Being there makes us very happy, and it can still be a season’s high point. We are obviously unhappy.

“However, we are aware that our current underperformance in the league is due to injury. I make this analysis because I consider myself to be a realistic person. When you have so many injuries in important areas, no team can function well.”
