WNBA star Caitlin Clark gets an offer from the Philadelphia Phillies

Caitlin Clark Named Unanimous Associated Press Rookie of the Year

Caitlyn Clark is going viral. But it isn’t for basketball. It’s more so for baseball.

The women’s basketball phenom was captured in a video that was recently posted, where Clark was watching the Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Brewers game. In the video, she was doing a mock broadcast for the camera.

When teammate Lexie Hull posted the video to TikTok of the Indiana Fever rookie it went viral.

The next day, Clark told reporters the experience granted her a new respect for baseball broadcasters, which led to an interest in commentating a game, for real this time.

“Well I told Lex that sometimes I’ll just commentate some games and she’s like, ‘All right, we’ll do it right now.’ I didn’t really know she was recording until a little bit too, but I don’t know, it’s just kinda fun. I’ve kind of been following the Phillies, so I kinda know some of their players and stuff,” Clark said.

“It was pretty funny, I messed up a few times, but that’s a hard gig! Also, I was out of breath and exhausted, so shoutout to all the commentators out there. I did it for two minutes and I needed a break … I don’t know if commentating’s in my future, but who knows, maybe one time for fun, someone will let me do it.”

Clark even went on to jokingly comment “@Phillies hire me?

After the Phillies and Brewers caught wind of her viral video and her comments, both teams posted offers to Clark the next day to join them for a game.

The Phillies posted a message from Tom McCarthy, who praised her commentary and invited her to the booth “whenever” she’d like. He also invited her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, who is a Phillies fan.

It wasn’t long before that the Brewers joined in and presented their own offer, as well.

“Let’s get you on our broadcast for real @CaitlinClark22, hit us up,” the team wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

As for when fans can see this opportunity come to fruition for Clark, they’d probably have to wait a while, as the WNBA Playoffs began on Sept. 22 for the Indiana Fever.

The Pittsburgh Steelers sstained three new injuries in their 20-10 win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. Outside linebacker Alex Highsmith has a groin injury and did not return. He was replaced by Nick Herbig, who had two sacks in relief, including a strip sack of Justin Herbert.

Highsmith’s injury was serious enough that the Steelers ruled him out shortly after halftime. He returned to the field in street clothes after his injury.
