Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur have been credited with an interest in Inter Milan forward Marcus Thuram.

Spanish outlet Fichajes have claimed Villa and Spurs are both showing a ‘growing interest’ in the France international after he enjoyed a successful first season with Inter. Thuram was the subject of interest from some of European football’s biggest clubs last summer and opted for a move to the San Siro. After scoring 13 goals and providing 13 assists in 35 appearances in all competitions, the former Borussia Monchengladbach star helped Simone Inzaghi’s side ease to the Serie A title and they also lifted the SuperCoppa Italia midway through the season. Although progress in the Champions League and Coppa Italia were limited to runs to the last 16, Thuram’s impact during his first season with Inter brought attention from elsewhere and he has started the current campaign in fine form.

After scoring braces in the opening day draw with Genoa and a 4-0 home win against Atalanta, Thuram has four goals and three assists in seven appearances in all competitions as his side sit in third place in the Serie A table, just a point behind leaders Juventus. However, Inter could well be tempted into a possible sale in the near future after Fichajes suggested Villa, Spurs and Atletico Madrid all have Thuram on their radar and are ‘considering his signing’ as they look to boost their attacking options ahead of next season.

Wolves star issues defiant message after Liverpool defeat

There was disappointment at Molineux on Saturday as Wolves extended their run without a Premier League win to a sixth game with a narrow defeat against Liverpool.

Ibrahima Konate put the visitors in front in first-half injury-time but Wolves hit back with a scrappy equaliser from wing-back Rayan Ait-Nouri. However, parity was only in place for a minute as a Mo Salah penalty restored Liverpool’s lead and helped Arne Slot’s side maintain their perfect away record and move back to the top of the Premier League table. Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes praised the Wolves supporters for their backing after the game and stressed Gary O’Neil’s men will ‘fight with all their strength’ to improve their poor form over the coming weeks.

He posted on X (formerly Twitter): “My message to the Wolves fans: thank you very much, you are the best part of us, we will fight with all our strength to get out of this situation. And I’m sure we’ll leave, for us but especially for you, thank you for all the support, together we are stronger. Only us for us.”
