Following his most recent goal for Marseille on Sunday, Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot supported Mason Greenwood, a former Manchester United teammate. After completing a £27 million move from Old Trafford in the summer, the 23-year-old has had a fantastic start to life in France and is obviously still respected by the Portuguese pair.

Earlier this year, after United faced criticism over rumored plans to reintegrate Greenwood into Erik ten Hag’s team, the two sides decided it would be best for everyone to split ways.

After being arrested in January 2022 for attempted rape, controlling and coercive behavior, and assault resulting in actual bodily damage, the former Red Devils No. 11 has been out of action for nearly two years.

According to Greenwood, “a combination of the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material meant there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction.” The UK Prosecution Service dismissed all of the allegations against him in February of last year.

According to The Athletic, Greenwood was scheduled to return after an internal probe led by former United CEO Richard Arnold.

However, the M16 giants leased Greenwood to La Liga team Getafe last season following a barrage of internal and external anger over the choice.

Prior to this season, the Bradford-born forward permanently joined Marseille after scoring ten goals in thirty-six games in Spain.

Additionally, he has made 16 appearances for the Ligue 1 team, scoring 11 goals and dishing out two assists. His most recent goal came on Sunday.

In Marseille’s 4-0 victory over Saint-Etienne in the Coupe de France, Greenwood scored the first goal before goals from Adrien Rabiot, Luis Henrique, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg against the 10-man hosts.

Later, he posted a picture of his celebration on Instagram to commemorate the victory, and Fernandes and Dalot liked the post to show their affection.

Alejandro Garnacho’s record-topping eight goals in all competitions this season has been surpassed by Greenwood, who has more goals than any other United player.

Greenwood’s cup exploits and United’s most recent lackluster goal-scoring performance coincided with AFC Bournemouth’s 3-0 victory at Old Trafford for the second straight season.

The home team wasted four great opportunities from 23 shots, even though they scored 2.28 goals compared to Bournemouth’s 1.63 (0.64 minus Justin Kluivert’s penalty).

Given that Marcus Rashford appears to be leaving, Ruben Amorim is anticipated to strengthen his attack as soon as possible.

United will benefit from having a sell-on clause in Greenwood’s contract at the Velodrome when he departs Marseille.
