Ruud van Nistelrooy has come out in support of Danny Ward after the goalkeeper faced a barrage of boos from Leicester City fans, stating he never considered taking him off. Notwithstanding Ward’s inconsistent performance, characterized by difficulties in saves and communication resulting in goals, Van Nistelrooy supported his player.

The Dutchman stated his unease with the directed taunting, stating: “It does not facilitate matters for him or the team.” Disappointment from the crowd is universally acknowledged, although it should not be directed at a single player.

Expressing discontent by booing is, in my opinion, a legitimate prerogative of a supporter to convey their sentiments. Everyone engages in that behavior. However, when it is directed towards a single individual, it becomes difficult for me to comprehend.

Van Nistelrooy commended Ward’s poise under pressure: “I believe he maintained his composure exceptionally throughout the match.” It is challenging when an event occurs, such as catching a ball, eliciting both cheers and boos from the audience, particularly when it becomes personal. I believe he managed it quite effectively.

He is the first to gaze into the mirror. All individuals aspire to excel and deliver their utmost for the club. In times of adversity, it is beneficial to remain united as a team and as an organization.

When inquired about the possibility of making substitutions, the manager firmly responded: “No.” I am supporting the players throughout these instances. It is necessary to consider certain circumstances in your team selection; however, it did not occur to me. He conducted himself admirably. It must have been challenging. We all experienced that sentiment. It is hoped that he can swiftly rectify the situation.

Leicester will be strengthened by the availability of Jakub Stolarczyk for the Boxing Day match against Liverpool, and potentially Hermansen as well. Nonetheless, for Van Nistelrooy, defensive lapses are inducing insomnia in anticipation of the Anfield visit.

“He acknowledged that, when considering solely the outcome, it was a poor performance.” “Upon examining the goals conceded as isolated incidents and considering the overall performance, the outcome was not as unfavorable as the score suggests.”

It is evident that conceding seven goals in two matches is excessive. Today, three goals conceded, but it’s only one goal for expected goals.

“Against West Ham we won and we had three expected goals. Everyone’s delighted when you take the points but we acknowledged that conceding that many was excessive. Overall today we defended better, as strange as it sounds. But individual blunders led to three goals getting past us. Those moments over the 90 minutes were something we just couldn’t rally back from.”
