It’s unclear if Marcus Rashford will make a comeback on Boxing Day after being left out of Manchester United’s squad once more for Sunday’s Premier League match against Bournemouth.

As the January transfer window draws near, Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is content to keep Marcus Rashford in limbo.

Rashford was once again left out of United’s lineup for Sunday’s humiliating 3-0 loss to Bournemouth. He has missed the last three games and watched his team lose again while wearing a club tracksuit in the Old Trafford stands.

If their £40 million asking price is satisfied in January, United is prepared to trade the 27-year-old forward, who has acknowledged that he is ready for a new challenge. Amorim has publicly maintained that Rashford’s time at United is not yet ended, but he declined to provide him with any clarification following the Bournemouth defeat.

Amorim declared, “It is and always will be my decision.” It’s a matter of choice. I experiment with different players because I want to see my greatest players. I’m focused on it.

Having only won six of their 17 games this season, United is currently in 13th place in the Premier League. On Boxing Day, they must defeat struggling Wolves at Molineux. Amorim did not confirm whether Rashford’s exile will extend against Wolves, although he did leave him out of the 2-1 derby victory over Manchester City, the 4-3 Carabao Cup loss to Spurs, and the Bournemouth humiliation. “That depends,” he responded. We’ll see.

Rashford is essentially gone, according to United icon Gary Neville, even though Amorim is keeping the prospect of reintegration open. On Sunday, he declared, “It is not really big team news anymore.” “Over the past week, a pattern has emerged, making it somewhat of a norm. Last weekend was unexpected.

“It’s becoming to the point where if you miss him three straight games, something is clearly amiss or has gone wrong. Furthermore, Marcus’ future at the club and Manchester United’s ability to retain him are not looking good.

“I have a suspicion that the journey is approaching the point when its conclusion is unavoidable. It diverts the manager’s attention. It becomes clear that the club wants him to depart and that he most likely has to; this will likely benefit both sides.

Neville added that Rashford might benefit from leaving his boyhood club. “There are also good examples of players who have struggled at United,” he continued. Marcus may believe it is the best decision for him as well because Jadon Sancho has moved to Chelsea and is doing well, and Scott McTominay wasn’t having any problems before leaving to join Napoli and is doing well.”
