On his return from injury, Reece James saved Chelsea to a 2-2 draw, which served as a timely reminder of his quality to the incoming England manager, Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel was present at Chelsea’s match against Bournemouth, which took place at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday. The German coach is scheduled to start in a number of Premier League matches before he unveils his first England team in March.

The only Chelsea player who was active during Tuchel’s tenure as manager of the Blues was James, who came off the bench to score a free kick in injury time that gained his team a point. James was the only player in the game who had played under Tuchel under his leadership.

Due to the fact that the Chelsea captain has been dealing with hamstring ailments during the course of this season, this was James’ first appearance in two different months. Because of his physical issues, he has not played for England in over two years. When asked about Tuchel’s presence at Stamford Bridge, James responded to TNT Sports by saying, “I worked under him, he knows my capabilities.”

James continued by saying, “I knew it was a good distance and that side of the goal was open.” This was in reference to his free kick opportunity. It has been quite some time since I’ve experienced the sensation of scoring pretty regularly, and there was a time when I was doing so quite frequently.

“I believe that we had a few excellent opportunities that we ought to have taken advantage of in the first half in order to put an end to the game. This is something that happens all around the world in football; if you have opportunities but you don’t take advantage of them, it might come back to haunt you.

James’ contribution was also praised by Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who expressed his optimism that the 25-year-old player will be able to maintain his fitness throughout the remainder of the season. “I am very happy for him, he deserved that after a difficult moment,” Maresca stated to reporters.

Additionally, it provided us with the point, which is why I am delighted for him as well as for us. The fact that he was able to experience this moment makes me really happy for him, and the objective for him at this point is to remain healthy until the conclusion of the season and to assist us in playing the style that we want to play.

Our first half of the season was certainly one of the greatest halves we’ve had thus far. The manner in which we were playing both on and off the ball, the manner in which we generated a great number of opportunities, the fact that we had about 15 shots, and the fact that the first half must end with a different score because we deserved to win by at least 2-0.

We then experienced a slight decline in performance during the second half, following the penalty kick, and it is likely that we need to figure out the explanation for this. The sense is similar to that of a little bit of a sadness because when you play the way you performed in the first half, which was a period in which we played really, really well, you need to be clinical.
