“I publicly criticised him several months ago, but tonight he demonstrated class,” stated Arsenal star Declan Rice, who promptly praised his ‘ridiculous’ and ‘scary’ teammate following a strong performance in Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Tottenham on Wednesday evening.

Declan Rice identifies his ‘ridiculous’ Arsenal teammate following the victory against Tottenham.

Declan Rice described Myles Lewis-Skelly as ‘ridiculous’ and ‘scary’ following his remarkable performance in Arsenal’s 2-1 victory against Tottenham on Wednesday evening.

Mikel Arteta’s team has reduced the deficit to Premier League leaders Liverpool to four points by overcoming a deficit to win the north London derby at the Emirates Stadium.

Son Heung-min initiated the scoring for Tottenham; however, Arsenal equalised after the ball deflected off Dominic Solanke into the net from a corner. Leandro Trossard scored just before halftime, giving the Gunners the lead.

Concurrently, Lewis-Skelly emerged as a prominent performer for Arteta’s team, with Rice characterising the 18-year-old’s development as ‘unbelievable’.

The little lad Myles is very remarkable; what he demonstrated tonight at the age of 18 is simply extraordinary. Rice informed TNT Sports following Arsenal’s victory.

It is alarming; the current 18-year-olds exhibit a complete absence of fear.

In the second half, I believe there were four or five instances where he exhibited the Moussa Dembele characteristic of utilising his physique to evade challenges. At times, it is indeed perilous; yet, demonstrating such personality and character at the age of 18 is very remarkable.

“Additionally, I would like to highlight Archie Grey and Lucas Bergvall, both 18 years old and consistently participating in matches. Mikey Moore is also noteworthy. There are players in the Premier League who are increasingly younger and exhibit remarkable fearlessness, which is commendable.”

In response to enquiries over Lewis-Skelly’s prospects of being included in Thomas Tuchel’s inaugural England squad, Rice stated: ‘He is primarily a midfielder, capable of playing as a No.6 or No.8; notably, he has also adapted to playing left-back, which allows him to effectively move inward.’

Understanding these roles and the knowledge he is acquiring at 18 is remarkable; it will undoubtedly benefit him in the future.

“It is uncertain what opportunities await him in England, but I am aware that he is held in high regard there.” There is significant rivalry for positions throughout the pitch for England; we must all continue to impress for the new manager.

Arteta had great praise for Lewis-Skelly’s performance against Spurs.

Incredible… “He was exceptional today, I believe,” Arteta stated.

He possesses a genuine personality, exudes self-confidence, and exhibits a distinctive demeanour.

“Competing against [Dejan] Kulusevski and [Brennan] Johnson is challenging; his management of the situation and the occasion was exemplary, in my opinion.”
