After Manchester United’s match against Southampton on Thursday evening, Ruben Amorim met with Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the owner of the Red Devils, to discuss the aftermath of the match. The Red Devils were just about able to win the match.

Amad not only rescued Manchester United from defeat at the hands of Southampton, but he also absolved Ruben Amorim of any responsibility related to his manager.

In the last minutes of the match against the Saints, the Ivorian winger scored a spectacular hat-trick to grab three points for his team. It had occurred after a performance in which the Red Devils were dominated by the club that finished last in the Premier League for significant portions of the game.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is a co-owner of United, was observed to be looking particularly dissatisfied while the game was in progress. Nevertheless, his disposition is likely to have improved after witnessing Amad take possession of his treble, especially considering that it was only a few days ago that he was successful in securing a new long-term contract for the former Atalanta winger.

There was also gratitude on the part of Amorim, who had a brief conversation with Ratcliffe only a few seconds after the last whistle blew. When asked about the conversation that took place between the two, the Portuguese coach hinted that it was a much smoother conversation than it would have been otherwise if United had lost.

My conversation with him lasted for five minutes, during which we discussed a variety of topics pertaining to the game. Although it was not a very good game, the outcome was beneficial to the conversation in the end.

“So that we can do our job, it’s a really difficult moment, but today was more important than the win at this point in time. I am aware that the supporters do not want to see football that is much better than this, and I too want to see football that is much better than this, but you need time.

“Just as I mentioned in the beginning of my time here, in order to win time, you need to win games. We did that today, and although it wasn’t done in a particularly great way, we were still able to win, and now we are going to get ready for the next game.

United will be back in action this weekend when they take on Brighton, and they have the opportunity to win back-to-back Premier League matches for the first time this season. This comes on the heels of a promising run of form for United. A draw was achieved by Amorim’s team against Liverpool, followed by a victory over Arsenal in the FA Cup and a victory over Southampton.

It is anticipated that Ratcliffe will be present at both of their upcoming matches, initially against Brighton and then against Rangers, both of which will take place at Old Trafford. Just one month ago, the owner of INEOS revealed his decision regarding Amorim, but he cautioned the fans that they should not anticipate instant success under their new manager.

He said: “We have a fantastic coach. He is intelligent, thoughtful. We have a wonderful chief executive in Omar. We’re on the way, but this won’t happen overnight. There are financial difficulties which we need to address since we’ve inherited a financial predicament that only time will solve.”
