Omar Marmoush expressed his gratitude to the Frankfurt fans before to his transfer to Manchester City, acknowledging them on the pitch following his omission from the 2-0 victory against Borussia Dortmund.

Marmoush is the second highest scorer in the Bundesliga this season, trailing Harry Kane, with 15 goals that have propelled Frankfurt to third place in the standings.

Frankfurt will have to go without his services following the agreement of a £68 million deal with City, who requested that the German club refrain from playing the forward against Dortmund.

The city achieved its desire as Marmoush observed from the stands while Hugo Ekitike and Oscar Hojlund netted the goals; nonetheless, the Egyptian international entered the ground at full time.

His teammates applauded him, seemingly congratulating him on securing a significant transfer to Pep Guardiola’s reigning Premier League champions.

Marmoush appeared upset, with his head in his hands, as the Frankfurt players consoled him in front of the home crowd. The player thereafter thumped his chest and raised his arms towards the fans to bid farewell before to his departure.

Earlier today, Frankfurt confirmed that Marmoush was excluded from the Dortmund team while downplaying conversations with City.

The club announced: “Eintracht Frankfurt is presently engaged in negotiations with another club concerning the transfer of Omar Marmoush.” Consequently, he is excluded from today’s team.

Frankfurt proved they did not require his presence, achieving a vital victory that reinforces their standing in the top four and narrows the gap to second-placed Leverkusen by two points.

The city aimed to acquire Marmoush for £40 million; however, Frankfurt demanded a greater sum due to the season’s midpoint and the necessity of locating a substitute.
