Paul Scholes has identified eight players that Manchester United should transfer, including Argentine centre-back Lisandro Martinez.

Martinez was acquired by previous manager Erik ten Hag and has probably been one of United’s superior players in recent years; nonetheless, Scholes remains unconvinced.

The renowned United midfielder also desires his former club to go of central defender Matthijs de Ligt, who joined the team only last summer.

The third name on Scholes’ list is another summer acquisition, Joshua Zirkzee, who has underperformed since his transfer to Old Trafford from the Italian club Bologna.

Scholes’ list includes three England internationals: Marcus Rashford, Mason Mount, and Luke Shaw, as the United legend seeks to transfer the trio.

Rashford has reversed his stance about his future at United, despite being sidelined by head coach Ruben Amorim.

The next two players on Scholes’ list are quite unsurprising, as the 50-year-old desires the departure of both Casemiro and Antony from Old Trafford.

Scholes identified the eight United players in a video disseminated on TNT Sports’ social media platforms on Tuesday, during a segment titled ‘Keep or Sell’.

Scholes contends that United supporters should not be concerned if the club opts to sell Alejandro Garnacho.

When enquired whether United could have to sell Garnacho to fund a reconstruction under Amorim, Scholes responded to TNT Sports: ‘I can foresee that with Garnacho, indeed.’

While Garnacho is a young player with potential for improvement, I believe United could acquire a superior talent. At times, his technique appears somewhat unrefined, and his decision-making is occasionally subpar.

I would not be apprehensive or concerned if they were to sell Garnacho. However, Mainoo, I would find that offensive.

“The young player [Garnacho] is undoubtedly talented, but identifying a suitable role for him within this team has proven challenging.”
