According to Manchester United defender Harry Maguire, the lack of consistency has been “the most frustrating thing” for the team this season. Maguire identifies this as one of the fundamental problems that the team is facing.

United have subsequently managed to eke out a victory against Southampton and suffered a 3-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford. This comes after United had previously displayed two good and energetic performances away from home against Liverpool and Arsenal earlier this month.

Before the victory against Southampton that took place on Thursday night, head coach Ruben Amorim acknowledged that he would learn more about his players in the Old Trafford double-header against the Saints and Seagulls than he had in the previous two matches, which were played against Liverpool and Arsenal. The triumph was spurred by a late hat-trick scored by Amad.

After suffering a loss to Brighton by a score of 3-1 on Sunday, Manchester United failed to win consecutive Premier League matches for the first time this season. Since the month of December 2023, they have also been unsuccessful in winning consecutive league games at Old Trafford.

Maguire has acknowledged that the most significant challenge Manchester United have encountered during the course of the season is attempting to achieve consistency. This comes before of tonight’s crucial Europa League match against Rangers in M16.

In an interview with TNT Sports, Maguire stated, “I believe that to be the most frustrating thing.” I believe it is probably the thing that is causing the manager the greatest annoyance. Due to the fact that we have demonstrated throughout this season that we are capable of producing high-level performances, we are just not doing so on a continuous basis. This is especially true at Old Trafford, where we are not playing as well as we are capable of doing. We are aware of that.”

The defeat to Brighton was United’s sixth home league loss of the season. Brighton was United’s next opponent. The fact that they have performed poorly at Old Trafford, where they have lost four of their previous five matches, is something that Maguire is well aware of.

“I don’t know whether it’s the pressure of playing at home in front of our crowd and us having to be on the front foot and to create the chances and score the goals,” he said. “I don’t know whether it’s the pressure of trying to score goals.” However, in order for us to achieve success as a club, we need to find ways to better our personal record.
