What Ruben Amorim Told Marcus Rashford Before Aston Villa Move

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has not been hesitant to make controversial decisions during his first 18 games in charge of the Red Devils, and a club insider has now revealed that he has told out-of-favour sensation Marcus Rashford that he would never play under his watch again.

Manchester-born and bred, the 27-year-old has had a rough moment in his career, having not appeared for his Premier League club since mid-December’s 3-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest. In fact, he has subsequently appeared in only one matchday squad.

That occurred against Newcastle United in late 2024, however he was limited to a spot on the substitute bench. Rashford admitted last month that he was’ready for a fresh challenge’, but his Old Trafford dream appears to be coming to an end.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Rashford, who had one of the best Premier League starts in history, is set to join Aston Villa on an initial loan. Unai Emery’s side are expected to fund the majority of the winger’s £325,000-per-week salary deal.

On Rashford’s impending departure, a source informed SunSport that he has already been told that there is no future for him at the Theatre of Dreams due to a connection – or lack thereof – between the Englishman and Amorim, who is regarded as one of football’s best young managers.

According to the source, Marcus has always stated that he will never play for another English team because he is a United fan. He began to consider a move earlier this season and desired to join a major European team.

“The reality is he’s not had the interest he expected,” the club insider claimed, adding that Emery and his crew were first intrigued two months ago, and “Villa first showed a tentative interest in him last November.”

They also stated that Amorim, who has won nine of Manchester United’s 18 games (50%) as manager, has advised the wantaway forward that he has no future at the club as long as the 40-year-old is in charge.

Amorim has made it abundantly obvious that he has no future at Old Trafford. Villa has managed to offer him two things: keeping his salary the same and Champions League football.

Barcelona, led by Hansi Flick, was also mentioned as a prospective bidder for Rashford after it was revealed that he was looking to move away from England. Initially on loan, Villa Park – as revealed by the aforementioned Romano – will be his final destination.
