Fans think it’s ‘time for a conversation’ about one Man City player after his performance against Liverpool

As a result of the club’s defeat to Liverpool by a score of 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium, supporters of Manchester City believe that one player should “stop being protected.”
One of the most significant steps that Liverpool has taken towards reclaiming the Premier League title from their long-standing rivals was to win the match in Manchester with relative ease.
Arne Slot’s team is currently 11 points ahead of Liverpool, despite the fact that Guardiola’s team has won the last four titles since Liverpool’s most recent victory. Mo Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai scored goals that put Arne Slot’s team in the lead.
Fans were left scratching their heads over the performance of one individual, despite the fact that the outcome was never really in any doubt whatever despite the best efforts of Manchester City.
Phil Foden was by far the best performer in the Premier League last year, and he was awarded the PFA Player of the Year award for his performance. However, his performances this season have left a lot to be desired, and the loss to Liverpool has proven to be the final straw for some fans.
In spite of playing all ninety minutes, the England star was unable to complete a crucial pass and lost possession of the ball fifteen times.
Fans of City took to social media after the match to make the claim that Foden has been overprotected for his poor performance this season, despite the fact that he has had a fantastic start to the year 2025.
According to the words of one supporter, “Foden needs to start getting criticised more manly.” Love him, but the fact that everyone is protecting him won’t help him in any way. During the previous season, he was the face of Manchester City, but this year he has been a complete and utter failure.
“Phil Foden looks much worse than Kevin De Bruyne, but hey, maybe we can give an argument about “Kevin’s legs are gone” and not look stupid,” said another of the individuals who contributed to the discussion.
“Foden Foden Foden,” remarked a third individual. Nothing is visible to me at all, and I haven’t seen anything in MONTHS.
Four people made the following statement: “City fans need to stop protecting Foden.”
Foden has only registered two assists in the Premier League this season, whereas he had 19 goals and eight assists in the previous season. Foden has scored seven goals in the Premier League on this season.
