Raheem Sterling ‘left furious & deeply offended’ after ex-Liverpool chief claims Chelsea star and FOUR other black players might have ended up in jail if they hadn’t made it in football
According to former Norwich director of football Webber, as reported by The Pinkun, Jonny Rowe, Abu Kamara, Max Aarons, Jamal Lewis, and Sterling have a strong need for their football careers to be successful, while the alternative might potentially lead to imprisonment or other unfavorable outcomes. According to The Mirror, Sterling and the other three players were extremely angry by the remarks. One of them even contacted Webber directly to demand an explanation. The article suggests that Webber has now apologized to certain players and their families.
Although Webber has reportedly engaged in communication with several players listed, he has not yet had any direct conversation with Sterling or his family, leaving uncertainty on whether they will have a direct discussion. Webber served as the director of recruitment for Liverpool from 2009 to 2012, after which he transitioned to QPR. In addition, he has collaborated with Wolves, Huddersfield Town, and Norwich.
Were you aware?
Sterling has accumulated a total of 25 games in the league for Chelsea during this season, with a tally of six goals and six assists. Despite being linked with a potential departure to Saudi Arabia, he is expected to reject that option in order to focus on regaining his top performance at Stamford Bridge.
What is the next step?
It is uncertain whether Sterling will be apologized to by Webber prior to Chelsea’s match against Burnley next weekend. The Blues are presently positioned 11th in the Premier League standings, however, they do have an upcoming FA Cup semi-final match against Manchester City, which happens to be Sterling’s previous club.
