David Raya observed as his Arsenal teammate, Aaron Ramsdale, experienced humiliation following his disastrous error against Brentford. Despite being unavailable to play against his parent team, the Spaniard maintained composure and stability, despite the mistake.

Ramsdale became the focus of attention early this season after a series of bad incidents involving Raya in the beginning of his time with the Gunners. However, in the first Premier League match since the two teams faced each other in November, Ramsdale, who previously played for Sheffield United and Bournemouth, was given the opportunity to play. After 45 minutes, it became evident that the situation had significant financial consequences.

Ramsdale, when attempting to clear the ball upfield, took an excessive amount of time and was pursued by Bees forward Yoanne Wissa. However, he could only kick his long pass directly into the oncoming player, causing the ball to deflect into the net. Although I had been observing without taking any action for most of the first half, it was a moment of genuine self-sabotage.

In contrast to the other instances of Raya blunders in September and October, which sparked extensive discussions about his position in the team due to a sluggish beginning, there was less response from the substitutes’ bench on this occasion. Earlier, Ramsdale appeared to be endorsing his challenger by applauding impressive saves and offering vocal support from the sidelines.
