Middlesbrough’s post-match celebrations may have gone too far following their 2-1 victory against Ipswich Town, according to Delano Burgzorg’s Instagram post.

Boro’s remarkable start to the season continued with a tense contest on Friday night, propelling them to the top of the Championship table after 10 games. It was an ideal reaction for Rob Edwards’ team, which had recovered brilliantly from their setback to Portsmouth before the international break.

The game had its share of drama, including a missed penalty by Ipswich’s George Hirst, but Middlesbrough’s spirited and cohesive performance, capped by a debut goal for Morgan Whittaker, demonstrated Edwards’ conviction in his squad.

The players celebrated their victory on social media, but none stood out quite like Burgzorg. In a hilarious Instagram post, he said:

“After a few tough weeks back on the pitch!! I understand that terrible times never last. P.S. We need a new TV.

The message featured a snapshot of a damaged TV inside the locker room, which elicited plenty of laughing from teammates. Tommy Conway humorously responded,

Burgzorg responded to “Top stuff my guy, still fined tho,” with “@tommyconway_ impossible ask @luke_ayling2 he knows about it!!”

Other players, including Callum Brittain, Matt Targett, and Hayden Hackney, praised the Dutch winger’s performance. While Conway’s reply suggested Burgzorg could face a light-hearted fine for the smashed television, the joking interaction represented the squad’s tight relationship – a vital reason in their season-long stability.

Friday’s performance could have been a turning point for Burgzorg, who has struggled for regular minutes this season. He was substituted in the 87th minute to warm acclaim from the away fans, demonstrating his value as a dynamic attacking force. After making 42 league appearances last season, scoring five goals and assisting twice, he has primarily played as a substitute this season — but his spirited performance against Ipswich could help revive his career.

With an upcoming match against struggling Sheffield Wednesday, Burgzorg has an excellent opportunity to capitalise on his momentum and push for a regular starting spot under Edwards. After reasserting himself with a solid performance and a memorable post-match scene, the Dutchman will be eager to keep his name in the spotlight at the Riverside.
