Ange Postecoglou Favourite for New Job 48 Hours After Forest Exit

After being sacked by Nottingham Forest, Ange Postecoglou could return to management soon.

Ange Postecoglou could be on his way back to management after being named the front-runner for a new position barely 48 hours after being fired by Nottingham Forest.

Postecoglou was relieved of his duties at the City Ground on Saturday, just minutes after losing 3-0 at home to Chelsea.

His stay ended after only eight games in 39 days, as he was fired for the second time in 2025 following his departure from Spurs, despite winning the Europa League and qualifying for the Champions League.

However, while he is presently out of job, the Australian has been linked with a surprise return to Celtic.

While rivals Rangers have fired Russell Martin after a poor run of play, Celtic are now five points behind SPFL leaders Hearts after a surprise loss to Dundee over the weekend.

They were also ousted from the Champions League at the qualification round, losing to a Kazakh team on penalties after a 0-0 draw in both legs.

Dropping down to the Europa League, Celtic has one point from their first two league games, and pressure is quietly building on Brendan Rodgers in his second term with the Glasgow giants.

Though the Northern Irishman is unlikely to be ousted anytime soon, the bookies’ favourite for the Celtic post has shifted.

Kjetil Knutsen of Bodo/Glimt was formerly the 2/1 favourite to become Celtic’s next manager, but his odds have now dropped to 7/2, placing him third on the list.

According to gambling.com, Postecoglou is the new favourite, now priced at 6/4 with betting apps.

The 60-year-old took over Celtic in 2021, winning two league titles and a historic treble in the 2022/23 season before joining Spurs.

Other names with accessible odds include former Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic, St Mirren’s Stephen Robinson, and Falkirk’s John McGlynn.

Celtic manager odds: Ange Postecoglou – 6/4

Edin Terzic – 3/1

Kjetil Knutsen: -7/2

Stephen Robinson: -4/1

John McGlynn -11/2.

Scott Brown – 6/1

Damien Duff – 7/1

Robbie Keane – 8/1

Michael Carrick -12/1.

Ruud van Nistelrooy – 14/1
