Nottingham Forest Appoint Sean Dyche as Key Contract Details Confirmed
Nottingham Forest have appointed Sean Dyche as their new manager after owner Evangelos Marinakis moved quickly to replace the sacked Ange Postecoglou in the City Ground dugout, with GIVEMESPORT sources revealing that talks began during the international break and progressed following the defeat to Chelsea last weekend.
The Tricky Trees were defeated 3-0 on Saturday, leaving the Midlands side winless since defeating Brentford on the first day of the season, and they will face Portuguese giants Porto in the Europa League on Thursday with a new manager.
Dyche is officially named as Postecoglou’s successor.
Dyche has been unveiled as Nottingham Forest’s new manager, following GMS senior reporter Fabrizio Romano’s confirmation that a verbal agreement had been reached on a deal until June 2027, when negotiations took place behind closed doors, and he has been tasked with steering the club away from the Premier League’s relegation zone.
The 54-year-old tactician has been on the market since being fired by domestic rivals Everton in January, and after being given the opportunity to succeed Postecoglou, he has already become the Tricky Trees’ third manager of the season, following Nuno Espirito Santo’s dismissal by Marinakis in September.
According to GMS sources, Dyche was only willing to take the Nottingham Forest job if he was given a long-term contract, as he had no interest in taking the role until the end of the season, and discussions began during the international break before escalating in the aftermath of the Chelsea defeat last weekend.
The one-time Championship title winner comes to the City Ground with a wealth of top-flight managerial experience, having previously managed Burnley, but his first game in charge will be against Primeira Liga giants Porto in the Europa League on Thursday.
Dyche will have Nottingham Forest legends Ian Woan and Steve Stone on his coaching staff, and GMS sources say his preferred style of play is considered internally as a good fit for the players he has inherited from Postecoglou.
Despite their current position in the Premier League’s bottom three, influential figures behind the scenes remain confident that the Tricky Trees can secure European qualifying this season, which is why a rapid replacement at the helm was deemed necessary.
Marinakis initially contacted Dyche to see if he was interested in taking over Nottingham Forest, but GMS sources have revealed that global head of football Edu and global technical director George Syrianos led the appointment process after Postecoglou’s departure was confirmed.
