Man Utd contract signed as Bruno Fernandes gets his wish from Sir Jim Ratcliffe
It is anticipated that Manchester United will have a busy summer.
Tom Heaton, the experienced goalie for Manchester United, has signed a new deal. The 38-year-old signed a one-year contract at Old Trafford, which will delight captain Bruno Fernandes. The player was eager to stay at home.
Since 2021, Heaton has been United’s backup custodian. Being a former academy graduate, he contributes to United’s homegrown quota.
Following many loan stints, the custodian first departed United in 2010 and spent time with Cardiff, Bristol City, Burnley, and Aston Villa before joining Manchester United again. Heaton agreed to stay until the end of the following season by signing a one-year deal.
United has made a strong effort to hold onto its most seasoned players. With his return to Old Trafford before to the start of the previous season, there are also rumours circulating that Jonny Evans is in talks for a new contract.
For training purposes, Heaton was recently called up to the England squad for Euro 2024 as a fourth custodian. Gareth Southgate was eager to take advantage of his well-known leadership abilities at this summer’s competition in Germany.
In response to the announcement, Fernandes posted a subtle message to Sir Jim Ratcliffe and company on his teammate’s Instagram page: “Great leaders are always welcome in any place.” Big man, congratulations.
Throughout his United career, Heaton has made three appearances. In a competitive game, he has never given up a goal when sporting a Red Devils shirt.
United is anticipated to have a busy summer of activities in the meanwhile. Dan Ashworth, who joined the club from Newcastle as sporting director, is expected to increase operations during a crucial summer for Erik ten Hag’s team.
After the former FA technical director was put on gardening leave by the Magpies in February, a contract to join United has finally been agreed upon.
Matthijs de Ligt, a defender for Bayern Munich, has reportedly received a five-year offer from United, per reports in the Netherlands. The centre back joined Juventus in 2019 after previously working with Ajax under Ten Hag.
The 24-year-old may be about to make another move after signing with Bayern two years ago. As of right now, United and Bayern are not said to have agreed on a price.
This summer at Old Trafford, defensive reinforcements are probably going to be a top focus. Last season, Ten Hag’s first-choice selection was out of the picture for a large portion of the campaign due to an injury crisis that decimated his back four choices.
It’s widely believed that Everton rejected United’s £35 million offer for Jarrad Branthwaite. The Toffees will probably ask for about double that amount.
