A French manager unexpectedly emerges as a candidate for the Celtic post.
The French manager has unexpectedly emerged as a candidate for Celtic’s vacant manager position, with Ange Postecoglou and Kieran McKenna likely out.

Finding a manager in the middle of the season is a difficult undertaking. Celtic might find out after Brendan Rodgers quit. The Hoops have not been in this predicament very often. And it remains to be seen what strategy they will use to resolve this issue.
Some argue that Martin O’Neill and Shaun Maloney should stay as long as the right candidate is not available. However, this will be determined by the outcomes. The mood is upbeat following the 4-0 victory over Falkirk. But all might change if the Scottish League Cup semi-final against Rangers at Hampden Park fails to go as planned this weekend.
Some of the early favourites for the Celtic post no longer appear to be in contention. Ange Postecoglou is said to want to take a break from football after being fired twice in a matter of months by Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest, respectively. Kieran McKenna and Craig Bellamy don’t appear to be interested in leaving their current positions in the middle of the season.
As a result, we’ve seen other names appear in the media in recent years. Nicky Hayen and Kjetil Knutsen are two candidates that supporters may want to see get the role. Robbie Keane has a winning record as well, albeit on a lower scale than the two. However, Damien Duff may lack the necessary experience. The same goes for another name that has just surfaced as a contender.
A French manager unexpectedly emerges as a candidate for the Celtic post.
According to talkSPORT, Wilfried Nancy has surfaced as a possibility for Celtic’s management job. The Frenchman is among the club’s choices for replacing Rodgers.
Most Celtic fans might be unaware of Nancy, which is understandable. He had an unremarkable playing career. His managerial success has come in the Major League Soccer (MLS).
He is the current Columbus Crew manager. He has won the MLS Cup and League Cup with them, and in 2024, he was voted Coach of the Year.
Nancy is undoubtedly highly regarded and has performed admirably at his current team. That being stated, how does this relate to Scottish football and Celtic’s current management situation?
