FEE AGREED: Arsenal set to land premier league top talent, fee agreed on a 4yrs deal, jersey number confirmed as announcement set to be done tomorrow
According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal has reportedly held negotiations to capture Pedro Neto, a star for Wolverhampton Wanderers, this summer.
The Gunners have been connected to a few names in recent weeks, so it appears that they are considering adding a new winger during this transfer season to strengthen the sides.
They are keeping an eye on the Portuguese, but Nico Williams has reportedly been identified as a significant target. Last season, the 24-year-old had a fantastic campaign with 20 Premier League appearances, two goals, and nine assists.
Arsenal has been linked to Neto for a long time; every time the transfer market opens, the Wolves star is mentioned in connection with Arsenal. However, they haven’t yet taken a firm step towards signing him, so it’s unclear if things will go differently this time.
The forward has stated that a move to the Emirates Stadium is his top priority, and Arsenal has reportedly already discussed a move with his representatives, according to the TEAMtalk report.
Arsenal to Neto
Consequently, the report claims that even if Arteta’s team is leading this race since they can guarantee him Champions League football, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing him.
TEAMtalk also says that although Arsenal thinks Neto would be a terrific addition, they will need to pay a premium—roughly £50 million—to sign him, so he won’t be an inexpensive option.
Neto is a flexible attacker because he can play on either flank and, in an emergency, cover in the centre of the attack. He can dribble past opposition defenders in confined spaces, is powerful, quick, technically sound, and can create opportunities for other attackers. He also puts in a lot of effort even when he is not in possession of the ball.
Neto is a great player who has previously shown his ability in the Premier League, but in recent years, he has suffered from injuries.
Therefore, paying a hefty amount to sign him would be a very risky move. As such, I believe it would be wiser for Arsenal to look into alternative options this summer in order to bolster the striking unit.
It will be intriguing to see, though, if the North London team decides to take a more serious shot at acquiring him during this transfer window.
